Introduction

Mark Crilley is an American comic book creator and children's book author/illustrator. He is the creator of Akiko, Miki Falls, and Brody's Ghost. He is also noted for his instructional videos and for his drawings in the manga-style. He was born on May 21st, 1966 in Michigan, Indiana, United States. He is known as an artist, illustrator, cartoonist, and fiction writer.

 Akiko

 Akiko is an American comic book series published by Siri Entertainment. The series had fifty-two issues and was a Eisner nominee thirteen times.The comic book collection includes: Akiko on the Planet Smoo (on March 2001), Akiko in the Sprubly Islands (on September 2001), Akiko, the Great Wall of Trudd (on March 2001), Akiko in the Castle of Alia Rellapor (on September 2001), and Akiko and the Intergalactic Zoo. The comics have been a big success and has therefore created a series of ten children novels from Random House Children's Books. The book series include: Akiko and the Alpha Centauri 5000 (on March 2003), Akiko and the Journey to Toog (on September 2003), Akiko: The Training Master (on February 2005), Akiko: Pieces of Gax (on November 2006), and Akiko and the Missing Misp (on November 2008).

The story is described as The Wizard of Oz and Star Wars. The stories are about the adventures of Akiko, a Japanese American girl, on and around the planet Smoo, and other mysterious lands. She is accompanied by her alien friends, Mr. Beeba the professor, the courageous but impulsive Spuckler, Gax the worn down, kind robot, and Poog, the Toogolian, floating, purple head.

 Miki Falls

 Miki Falls is an OEL manga series published by HarperCollins under its HarperTeen imprint. It is a four-volume series, each book taking place during one of the seasons over the course of a year. It is about Miki Yoshida, a teenage girl in her senior year of high school, and she plans of making it the best year yet. However, a strange new boy arrives in town and Miki went to find out what he's up to. It has been considered to develop as a feature film by Paramount and Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B, with Sera Gamble as the screenwriter.

  Brody's Ghost

 Mark Crilley has created a new comic book series that was published by Dark Horse Comics. This story takes place in the future, and is about a young man unaware of his magical powers. Only when he is approached by a mysterious girl in need of his help he begins with a training process to awaken and master his powers.

Book One in the Brody's Ghost series was released July 14, 2010. Book Two is set for a January release in 2011. Upon release, the series received positive feedback including a grade B+ from Detroit News's Eric Henrickson.

Brody's Ghost has several differences from Crilley's previous work, Miki Falls. The story's main character is a man and it has more action and fighting sequences.

 Personal life

 Mark Crilley gives drawing advice to artists on his Youtube videos and on his DeviantArt account. In August 2010, he starred in a few how-to-draw videos for Funimation on demand. Mark Crilley's wife is Miki Crilley who is from Japan, and he named Miki Falls after. They have a daughter, Mio, and a son, Matthew.
